Day 3 - Rue and La Cite Souterraine de Naours [Scanned]

Monday was split into 2 halves – the morning session involved a tour of the local town, Rue, which included a French quiz as well as speaking French to order a drink in a café and to purchase a postcard and a stamp. The chateau provided lunch before we headed off to the Cite Souterraine de Naours, a city built underground so that the locals could take refuge during World War I. A visit to a windmill was followed by fun on a small adventure playground. We returned to the chateau for our evening meal before burning off the last few bits of energy by undertaking the chateau Olympics. Packing and bed followed in preparation for our return journey tomorrow which includes making croissant at a boulangerie and shopping trip at the Cite Europe.#

Day 2 - Parc Asterix [Scanned]

A relatively early start, a bit of a shock for some, as we set off towards the capital to go to Parc Asterix. The children were enthusiastic and split into 2 groups – the real daredevils who wanted to do the fast rides and the other group were the ones that just wanted to get wet! Fun and enjoyment was had by all, including staff, with the weather making it even more enjoyable and aiding the drying out of several children and CJH. Dinner with a few traditional delicacies (frogs’ legs and snails) was served before the evening was spent at a disco, an opportunity for the girls and some of the boys to put on their party gear.#

The Journey, the Crossing, St. Joseph Village and Fun in the Sun on the Beach [Scanned]

The 5th Form attending the Bilton Grange French Trip have settled down for the evening after a long and active day. The journey went well with a smooth crossing and was followed by a great lunch at St. Joseph Village. A tour of the village demonstrated what France used to be like and some of the machinery and equipment that was used. The journey continued to Le Chateau du Broutel; however, with the weather being so good a slight detour was made to the beach at Fort Mahon Plage where the children were able to run off the journey. Dinner was served at Le Chateau followed by a tour, a scavenger hunt and then bed.
