Today, I received my first piece of Spam in French, which obviously shows that this site has reached the spam spiders. It's a standard 419 'you have won the lottery' scam (below), but it inspired me to look up the French word for Spam. Sadly, it appears to be 'le spam' though the Academie suggests that it should be 'le pourriel' (a portmanteau word combining 'poubelle' (dustbin) and 'courriel' (the 'official' word for 'e-mail)). Surely it should rather be some variant on 'le pâté'?

Meanwhile I found the suggestion that a Podcast in French should be 'diffusion pour baladeur'!
